SMART goals are important.
My goal (all the time) is to spend more locally, that’s been hard this past year. In May I moved into a new live in situation that didn’t have the best of set ups. It’s been a difficult almost 8 months, getting moved in, getting our feet under us financially, and emotionally.
One of the things I’ve had to do that I haven’t liked is shop at WalMart- don’t like the company, don’t like the shopping experience and hate the drive out there but we’ve had a very rough time getting what the residents consider acceptable food at prices I can afford.
I’m hoping this month to spend no money at Walmart. That’s currently about 1/3 of our food spending per month. We’ve got a good local source for meat, we’ve got a good source for bulk starches (bulk from a local store) but its hard to get fruit and veggies this time of year so that’s mainly what we’ll be buying.
